From Andy Wilton:

During today’s webinar, I’ll be demonstrating two new products that we are launching today – live on ClarionLive.

Both products have been created because of user requirements within our products. They provide everyday functions that most users have come to expect from modern, feature rich applications.

PDF Viewer Wrapper

PDF documents are used everywhere nowadays due to their versatile, easy to use nature. We wanted to create a new help centre within our software that could display various contents – some of which were in PDF format.

We had a look around and whilst there were some PDF viewers available we didn’t like to be tied to one particular PDF engine, especially as the marketplace now offers so many different options, each with their own PROs and CONs and different pricing options.

Our new PDF Viewer Wrapper template enables you to add a viewer to your application in seconds and also provides the user with a set of Navigation and Zoom controls. The major difference with this product is that you’re not tied to one particular viewer engine. Instead, you can specify which engine you want to use and the template does the necessary calls to it for you. This provides you with one common approach to use regardless of engine choice. At present, the template supports 6 different PDF engines – with more to follow.

G-Media Wrapper

Within one of our newer apps, we had a requirement to view lots of media in quick succession. In this app, the user does get to choose the Media engine, so we couldn’t find a template that covered the necessary choices…. So, like the PDF Viewer wrapper, the G-Media Wrapper was created.

Just like the PDF Viewer wrapper, our new G-Media Wrapper template enables you to add a viewer to your application in seconds and also provides the user with a set of Navigation and Zoom + Size controls. Again, you’re not tied to one particular media engine. Instead, you can specify which engine you want to use and the template does the necessary calls to it for you. This provides you with one common approach to use regardless of engine choice. At present, the template supports 7 different Media engines (covering both AV and Imagery) – with more to follow.
